Great experience.

In this summer, I had first experience.

My family hosted twice. The first girl was from India, and she stayed for 3days as a exchange students in the MWU program. Hosting someone is first time for my family, and my family don't have a chance to speak English usualy except me. However, Indian girl was always curious about Japan, so she asked a lot of question, so we could speak pleasantly.

We went to the USJ, and sushi restaurant. We wanted to go more, but we didn't have enough time. However, she said she had a great time with us. I was so glad to hear that.

The second girl who came from Spokane WA also was exchange student, but she was rotary club. I went to Spokane as a exchange student last summer, so this year, she came to Japan, and stayed my house for 3 weeks.

She was an active and funny girl, so my family laughed everyday. She tried to remember some Japanese words. She remembered "Gomen" "Arigatou" "Dame" "Iiyo" "Iya". She was really cute.We promised to meet again.

This summer, I could keep speaking English, and make new friends of other countries.

I still keep in touch with them, and from now on.

These are my great experience.

Summer Vacation

Summer Vacation

Before I came here, I had a long summer vacation in this year. After regular program,I was so glad that I could eat my mother's cooking. My mother is good at cooking,so I was very happy everyday.

The most excited memory during this summer was to watch fireworks twice. I went to Ashiya and Takaraduka to watch them. They were so beautiful. I had never seen them near,so I was impressed very much.

I also had a part time job during this summer.I worked at buffet restaurant. It was my first time to work at a restaurant. It was heavy work and I worked there a short period. I was so tired, but I could have a good experience there.

The restaurant is in Harbor Land,so many foreigner came to visit.I almost always could speak English when I went to work. It was to work at the restaurant, but It was very good place to keep my English.

At the end of this summer my friends who I spent a long time in regular program gave me a farewell party, and one of them gave me a daily pad calendar. She made it for me! I was so surprised and glad. I thought that I will do my best again.I tear a leaf off the calendar every day.It reminds me of my friends.
I had a great time with my friends and family in this summer!

My Hometown

My hometown is Ikeda city in Osaka Japan.

I have never moved from there since I was born, so I have lived for twenty years.  It is famous for chicken Chinese noodle. There is a museum.  The name is "Instant Chinese noodle invention museum".

We can make original cup noodle to choose kinds of ingredient and soup, so it was so excited to make them, so many children to adult can enjoy making . When I was a child, I went there, but I didn' t remember at all, so I want to go there again.

I had worked at an oyster specialty store about three month last year.  The name is "kakimine". The menu is only full-course meal, also only one. They are a vineger oyster, deep fried oysters, an oyster nabe and oyster rice with soup, nori, ginger and wasabi. I have never eaten all, but I ate them a little except an oyster nabe. They were so delicious. I worked as a hall staff. I could enjoy working very much there.

I recommend this store to you if you go to my hometown, Ikeda.

Host Family

Saturday, September 26

I saw my host family on September 20th.  They had moved new house and it is very big and beautiful.  I want to live in such a beautiful house.

We had a barbecue in the yard for lunch.  It was delicious.  Mother taught me how to cook so I want to cook it in Japan with my friends.  Then, my father cooked chicken . He used a teriyaki flavor.  I remembered Japanese taste.  We enjoyed eating it with their friends and enjoyed conversation.

There are 5 people in the family.  I was surprised how the youngest doughter grew up.  She is 2 years old.  Before She couldn't speak a lot, but now she can speak a lot.
After lunch, we played some sports.

We had a wonderful time.

I'm looking forward to seeing them again.

Thank you.

Last Summer

Hello! I'm going to talk about my life in last summer. I have always stayed home since I went back to Japan, because my house was very comfortable more than before I went to Spokane in the regular program. I didn't do a part time job, so I watched the TV and many DVDs in my house except when I went to university. However, I have once met my friends in August.

I looked forward to meeting to them because we didn't see since the study abroad finished. I felt that we don't meet for a long time because we have met them every day during the regular program. Therefore, I had many things that I wanted to talk to them.

We could hardly see each other before, but when we did, we screamed. We didn't stop talking. Then we did bowling! We usually go bowling when we meet somewhere. I don't know why bowling. I'm not good at it but I was very fun! The most impressive thing is to be cheered up by them because the person who will take part in the Extension program was only me.

I want to meet them. They are my good friends! This is the good memory of my life of last summer. Thank you.

What Can I Do?

I have three goals this semester. They are very important and necessary in my future, so I have to work harder than last semester.

First, I want to improve my pronunciation skill. For that purpose, I have to listen carefully to native speakers' pronunciation, rhythm, stress and accent. In regular session, I imitated my RA's speech and then my pronunciation improved a little, so I think I should observe native speakers and imitate them. If I do it, my pronunciation will improve.

Second, I want to read books fast. My reading speed is slow and I stop when I don't know the vocabulary, so I think I have to continue to read. I'm also not good at grammar so I take a long time to understand it. I want to understand grammar fast so I will read a lot more books than other students.

Third, I want to be able to communicate with native speakers naturally. When I talk with native speakers, I can't reply naturally, even though I want to. For that purpose, I will have a lot of office hours and talk with teachers. I will also talk with RAs and my host family. I think I should talk with a lot of native speakers and learn how to talk naturally with them.

All of these are very important to me. I want to develop my English skills. I will work very hard.

About Me!

I will introduce about me. First, my name is Yuko. My nicknames are Koriwo, Koribel and more. I like my nicknames and I'm happy if people call me by these nicknames, so please call me Koriwo or Koribel

Next, my group is group 11. My RA is Shelly. She is very kind and cute! My group went to Priest Lake last weekend. We played tubing and kayaking, riding on a boat and watching many beautiful stars! It was a fabulous time! I want to go there again!

Third, I'm from Wakayama, but I live by myself near MWU. I enjoy living by myself. Oh, I have to go to fix my bicycle tire. Although the tire went flat in this summer, I couldn't fix it because I had no money... It was very inconvenient to go shopping at a supermarket without my bicycle. I had worked as a cashier at a big souvenir shop of USJ. That's why I got enough money to fix it this September. I will be able to do it when I go back to Japan!!

Then, I like animals, especially cats. I have a cat. Her name is Sara. I also had a dog. I want to live my life with animals. I can't believe my life without animals. I miss my cat. I also like to listen to music. I listen to any kind of music-Pop, Rock and R&B, etc... When I was a junior high school student, I always listened to American music, so I was interested in America and English. Maybe I would not have been here if I had not been interested in American music.

Finally, I want to speak English fluently with correct grammar. One of this semester's themes is studying English grammar hard. I want to do my best. And I want to enjoy this life!!

About me ^^

Hi, everyone! I'm Shiori.

I'll introduce myself. I love talking, singing, laughing, traveling, eating, playing sports...and so on! I am a curious person, so I love to know, see, think, experience, and feel something. I want to experience many things while I am student.
I played tennis for 6 years when I was junior and senior high school student. Then, I was kind of a tennis-oholic, so my memories as a junior and senior high school student were only tennis.
I want to take a trip all over the world and make friends there, so I need English. I came here to speak English fluently because of my hobby and dream.

My friends said that I am similar to Doraemon, TKO Kinoshita, Sent kun, and Ancle Festa. TKO will come to MWU in this Culuture Festival, so if I will be in Japan, my friends make me appear on stage! Definetely!!! Do you think so?????

Everyone, Have fun this weekend ^^

What Can I Do?

Now I am living in America for the second time. Last session I learned a lot of things. At first I could not say "How's it going?" or "Could you pass me the salt please?" But now I can. I had a great time last term because of speaking English enjoyably.

But when I went back to Japan, I could not use English very well. I met some people who spoke English so I tried to speak English. They did not understand what I said so I was very nervous. I lost my confidence. I did not know what I learned in America and what I could do.

One day after I came back here, I thought about what I can do in America and what I have learned about America. I noticed I can do a lot of small things. For example, I can say "hello" or other greetings and I can ask some questions like, "What are you doing now?" so I can learn English if I want. There are small things that I can do which means I have improved myself, and in the future I will be able to do more than now.

Let's Introduce myself!

My name is Yumie. I am 19 years old. I was born in Boston, America, and when I was 3 or 4 years old, I moved to Kanagawa, Japan. I live in Hyogo, Japan, now.

I'm the youngest in my family. I have one older brother and one older sister. My brother was born in Indonesia. Both my brother and I were born in the foreign countries because of my father's job. My brother works for a coffee maker. I love coffee, so I'm always happy when he sends us some coffee. My sister is an aesthetician. She teaches me a lot about beauty. It's most relaxing time when she massages me. My mother teaches Japanese to foreigners, mostly to Asian like Korean or Chinese people. I respect her very much. I'm wondering about being a Japanese teacher. However, if I become a Japanese teacher, I want to teach Japanese to Americans or Europeans using English. I like English. I want to work using English. Also, some day I want to study abroad ALONE for about one year.

After Three Months

In three months, when this program is over, what will I be able to do? I know there are so many things that I am able to do already, and also that I can learn during the semester. But my biggest goal is to use authentic English, having confidence in myself.

The reason I came here is to learn English, of course. But it is not something that I cannot do in Japan. I am here in Spokane to learn and to use real English skills. There are a lot of opportunities that I can try. I believe that trying something hard for me will improve not only my English but also many important skills. So after I will have tried and experienced many things, I think I will be able to have confidence in myself.

I am learning English and communication skills at the same time here in Spokane, and it will help me to understand different cultures and people and this world better. So to open my world, I want to learn more authentic English and to have confidence in myself.

This is what I will try to do for the next three months, and this is what I believe I will be able to do in December after my hard work!

What Can I Do Now?

When I came back to Spokane, I realized that my English skill had improved from before. In the regular program, at first, I couldn't understand what my teachers said. But now, I can understand. I listen to English every day and it accustoms me to English.

Second, I try to speak English as much as possible. For example, my roommate and I have a rule. It is that "We speak E.O.!!" It is sometimes difficult for me, but important. I will keep this rule this semester because I want to speak English fluently.

Next, I can be more active than before. My teacher sometimes asks question or asks us to do something. In the regular program, I couldn't be active. But now, I am not ashamed to be active. I try to express my opinion. I think it is a good opportunity to improve my English skills.

Finally, I don''t feel culture shock because I already know about Spokane, teachers and American life. So, I can enjoy studying here. It is my strength.

In conclusion, I grew up in the regular program, and I came back here. I want to study hard. :)

What Can I Do?

I can do many things now that I didn't before because I'd never been to the American mainland. I didn't know what American people were thinking. Of course I didn't know what I could do, either.

First, I didn't understand what my teachers said in each class. However, I could understand little by little by the end of last semester, and now I can understand their English:) It's really a happy thing for me because I couldn't grasp what Pamela and Brenda S were saying at first.

Second, I hated grammar before last semester, because if I studied grammar, I couldn't understand or use it:( I still don't like it, but I understand and use it a little now! So I'm improving my grammar skill, I think. This advance of grammar in English is very good for me, and what I hated is a past thing!

Third and finally, I couldn't do my homework early when I studied at MFWI last semester. However, I can do that now!! It's a very very very big, huge, great improvement, I think. So I'm proud of it;) Now, I want to say "Bye, and do my homework early!"

These are very good points of what can I do. So I want to continue these things, and then I want to add more good things!!

About myself

Hi everyone!! My name is Yuka^^
Please call me Yuka!! Now I live with G15.
I will introduce myself!!
My birthday is December 11th so I will be 20 years old here:D
I live in Akashi in Japan but almost in Kobe!!
There are 4 people in my family, my father, my mother,
my older sister and me. I have a dog. His name is Shokola.
He is very cute but sometimes very selfish;( I love him!)
My hobbies are playing volleyball, talking with my friends,
sleeping, go shopping, eating and so on^^

I love almost all sports so if you play something,

Next, I want to talk about my character.
According to my friends, I look very talkative, not shy.
In fact, I am very talkative to my friends who I already know.
But I can't talk with friends who I have never talked to before.
because I am very shy; So, please talk to me a lot!!
And the reason why I joined this program is I thought
I want to study English more and more!!
But before I decided to join this program, I worried whether
I should join it. Because I didn't have confidence at that time.
I worried about whether I can follow my classes.
So, I talked to my RA, Erin. Then she said to me
"Why are you worried so much?
Why can't you believe in yourself?
If you said " I can't" you can't.
If you said " I can " you can.
I believe you can do it !"
Her words made me cry and I decided to join this program!!
Maybe I will remember these word when I encounter some difficulties.
!Believe myself!
I want to enjoy this program with all members.
So, let's make a lot of memories!!
!!DO OUR BEST!!
Thank you for reading^^

What Can I Do?

What can I do to improve my English? First, I think listening is most important. If I can't listen to people, I can't communicate with them. Second, reading is also important. I can get many new vocabulary words, understand grammar, and think in English when reading. Next, I am not good at writing, so I need to practice more. I think listening, reading, and writing is connected to speaking English.

What can I do to study these skills? Listening is easier than the others. I should watch many movies or TV shows and listen to songs in English. Next, it is difficult to improve reading skills. I can't read fast, but by reading a lot, probably I will read faster. Third, writing is the most difficult for me. I have no idea how to study, but I think to write journals or blogs are good ways to improve writing skills.

Finally, I need time to improve my English. It is important to listen a lot, read a lot and write a lot. Now I am in Spokane, so I can speak to RAs or teachers, and I will treasure this for months!

What Can I Do?

I learned a lot of English skills at MFWI in the regular program. I came back to Spokane and classes just began. What can I do now?

When I came to MFWI in February, here is what I found: that all I can do is English grammar. I hardly had conversation ability in English. It was hard for me to even introduce myself and I couldn't understand what teachers said. I was shocked and wanted to master English skills as much as possible. After that, I learned a lot of English skills at MFWI. Through conversation class, I learned how to communicate with people in English. I found we have to not only speak but also listen to others. Also I learned it's so important to read books in English. I think my vocabulary is poor, so I always wanted to look up words in a dictionary. However, I learned that one of the most important skills of reading is to guess. I came to be able to read by guessing. I got a lot of English skills besides grammar.

Though I learned a lot of English skills, I came back to MFWI. The reason why I took part in the Extension program is that I wanted to study more and I thought I could learn more. The last four months were fabulous. However, I felt there were many things that I hadn't learned yet. Also, I want to believe in my potential!

What Can I Do?

I had been to MFWI in February for four months, and I came back here in September. I have different feelings from last semester. Now, I'd like to write about the differences of my feelings.

First, I can live easily. When I returned here in February, I didn't know how to live. For example, I didn't know how to use a washing machine, kitchen or bath. But I can do everything now.

Second, I can listen to English more. First, I couldn't understand and I hadn't any listening comprehension. Ms. Marie often spoke to us last semester, but we didn't understand her words. We were always confused. When I listened to her English recently, I was surprised because I understood her English clearly and what she said to us.

Third, I couldn't write a lot of words in my journal in writing class last semester. I realized my writing skill was bad. My score was terrible, and my grammar skill was also terrible. I have problems still, but a little has changed. It is more easy to write long sentences now than last semester. I noticed this when I wrote a journal in writing class.

In addition, I notice my reading skill, the speed of reading. I was given three books by my teacher for book club, and I read the books when I returned to my house after classes. I can read 10 pages in 10 minutes. I was surprised again because I used to spend a lot of time to read, maybe about 20 minutes because I checked many words by used the dictionary.

Finally, I am also surprised about my conversation skill. I can speak with teachers easily and I can think up questions and answers. Last semester, I always thought about questions and answers deeply, so I took time until I answered. My ability changed over four months.

In my opinion, I can do everything more than last semester because I spent a lot of time to study English. Other students also can do more than last semester. It is really important for us, and it will improve our English skills. We have to keep trying this semester. We can improve our English skill more. We have to practice and study every day.

Never give up!

What Can I Do ?

First, I can talk in English with many foreign people because we have a lot of opportunities. I can also listen in English. I have American friends and teachers. However, I am afraid of making mistakes, so sometimes I stop talking. It's not good. And I'm a little shy with strangers, so talking is my weak point, but I want to conquer this problem this semester. In America, I can experience things that I can't experience in Japan, and I will grow up.

Next, I think this semester is very important for me. Last semester was just fun. The homework was easier than now and fewer. I'm surprised about studying in the Extension program because we have to do more difficult things than before. I'm spending a lot of time on homework in my dormitory. It's hard, but it's exciting. I hope my English skill will improve when I go back to Japan, so I have to study hard.

Next, I always have to be friendly with my group members, RA, and teachers. It's good to share happy times. I can learn English pleasantly because we can have great experiences and memories, and we can help each other to learn. I want to have good memories, so the most important thing is that we trust each other.

Finally, I will participate in a lot of events because I can experience many things, and I can have opportunities to talk with a lot of people. I can hear stories that I had not known. And I can teach my parents and my Japanese friends. It's so interesting for me.

This semester is great. I don't want to leave with regret, so I'm going to study hard at everything. I think if we have motivation, we can do everything. Just go and do it!!

What Can I Do?

I think there are a lot of ways that my English has improved.

First, I like to talk with American people. Especially, I talk with my RA. I think it is very important for me because I think about my pronunciation and English conversation. I'd like to continue every day.

Second, I watch English movies every week because I think it is good listening practice. I like to understand listening. I'll try to raise my TOEIC test score in listening.

Finally, I think EO has been very important for my English improvement because I must use English Only all the time. I'd like to try to speak English only in my house.

I want to do all I can.

What Can I Do

I had a great time last term. I spent such a wonderful time with my friends, teachers and RAs. It wasn't only fun but also hard. This can be said about all its aspects. But I think it made me grow up.

So, what can I do now? I have many answers. First, I can listen and understand people who speak English. Of course, my skill is not perfect. When I go downtown and talk with native speakers, I can't understand everything. But I can almost understand. When I came here, I couldn't understand them at all. I feel like my English skill has improved. I was afraid to talk with them, but now I can order pizza on the phone. My English skill is not always good, so it is confusing for them. I can't tell them clearly and exactly, but I can tell them what I want to say approximately.

Second, my friends made me grow up. All of my friends were kindhearted. Their kindness made me feel warm. They were so tender so I could be gentle to them. Of course, there were many problems, but we tried to understand each other so we could solve our problems easily. Their mild hearts and understanding made me grow up.

Finally, I have started to think of my parents. I hadn't noticed the importance of my parents. It was the first time for me to live without them. When I called my mother, she was so pleased and I felt how much I was loved by her. I wouldn't notice this if I lived with them. I can say "Thank you" honestly now.

Now, I have improved my English skill. I can be kinder to my friends and more honest with my parents. I have many things that I can do now. I also want to find them this term.

CULTURE

When I came here,I found how interesting to study culture is.
The first time to think about it was when I visited an American house.
I can always eat cookies there. Always!

I was surprised because Japanese sweets are traditional and famous, but I can't eat so many times because it is not easy to make. There may be people who have never made them in Japan. We sometimes buy and eat them with green tea. It makes me so comfortable. On the other hand ,"COOKIES" , they do not take so long time and also the American oven is much bigger than we have. That is why I felt cultural different in an American house.

Also I researched about American schools because our presentation topic is HIGH SCHOOLS of JAPAN. I interviewed and talked about it with some people. Then what I found is the difference of our point of view between Japan and America. They are completely different. While I was in Japan, I did not care about our culture or system because it is natural. However I began to think I love Japan much better than before. Our culture is original, our culture has so much history. It is not only wars or business system, but also we have lots of original thoughts, food, and language which have many explanations. I do not think there are many countries have such original culture.

I am proud of my country, so I am sorry that some Japanese say "I don't like Japan, and I want to live in Europe." These are my these days. My every days are fresh and enjoyable.

Shoko, I think this last part would be great to add to your presentation or even your 5 paragraph essay. I also agree with you that young Japanese people sometimes look down on their own country as they find new and exciting things about another country. But, because I am old, I have seen that these same young people grow up and learn to love their country just as much as everyone else. Right now this is fun, new, and exciting for them. It's pretty natural to have this feeling.

The last day in Thailand, I watched the ocean almost all day long. The ocean and the sunset were fabulous!! I would like to go to another place such as Goa in India, Miami in America, more and more. I love to look at the sky also, because it is relaxing for me. If I have a time, I take many pictures of the sky. I'm making my photographic collection of the sky. My favorite sport is volleyball. When I was a junior high school student, I belonged to the club. I learn many things by playing volleyball, especially, never giving up. "Never give up" is good phrase . That phrase makes me more stronger. I keep up this semester. I never give up. NEVER!! That is my purpose.

Hi! My name is Kana.

There are five people and a dog in my family. They live in Osaka which is famous for Takoyaki, Okonomiyaki, and Kushikatsu, and so on...but I live in Nshinomiya by myself. When I introduce myself, I'm always asked the same question , "Why do you live there? I think you don't need to live by yourself." I really think so too, but I have some reasons I can't explain about it well in English. However, I love my family, as other people do as well.
Well, my dream is to marry a man from the other countries, but lives in Japan, because I'm going to able to keep my English up, and I want to be influenced by him as a person has different way of living and culture. It makes me so energetic!! Honestly, my ideal couple is Mieko and Justin♡

I wanted to share our food with them, but it's pity that we couldn't because of the flu. I want to go to this restaurant again. I really like sweets, especially chocolate, but I have to avoid eating it because I want to cure pimples.

I had worked at Japanese sweets shop for about two months during this summer vacation. There were a lot of things to memorize and learn, so it was very hard for me, but I enjoyed working there very much. My boss has a very kind family. When I left there, they expressed their thanks to my work for me, and gave me an allowance. I'm happy to experience such a great part-time job in my hometown.

My biggest goal for this semester is being more positive and active. To be honest, I'm too shy to learn English, so I want to talk to many people as much as possible, and I want to get along with anyone here. I hate this part of my personality , so I want to like me more by succeeding this semester.

This is my picture during my Gifu trip last year.  There were some famous hotels of hot springs and beautiful nature called Japanese Alps.

I love American movies:

STARWARS, THE MASK OF ZORRO, Chocolatte, and BEDTIME STORIES.

I prefer such a visionary stories. Maybe I'm sometimes romantic I know.
In addition I also like reading especially on a train in Japan.  These seats, the sounds, and the tremor make me more comfortable than my chair at home. I read some books on the train during the summer vacation because I had to go to part-time job almost everyday.  That's why I couldn't help to ride a train for an hour but also I could finish my homework.  Now I'm busy because of homework not a job.  However I'm excited because it's much better than boring day, isn't it?
Here, in America, I'm gonna talk with many people, experience lots of situations, and improve my skills. Everyday will be wonderful.

Who am I?

Self Introduction

Hello, everyone. My name is Yuka akazawa.
I came back to Spokane for more English study,
and it will be a better experience.

I'll tell you about me.

There are 4 people in my family and 2 pets. These pets are dog and cat.
Dog's name is Teddy, and cat is Kuro. They are so cute and make me smile.
My hobbies are playing tennis, scuba diving, watching movies, listening to music, cooking, and so on.

To travel, it makes me excited.  I want to go all over the world, and know every culture.
When I go to other country, I am impressed and interested because there are a lot of differences from Japan.

I also like to play tennis. I began to play tennis when I was a junior high school student. I belonged to tennis club then, and now that I am a university student, I began to play tennis again.
The tennis club of the junior high school is different from university's. A lot of different university students participated in this club.

I went to a girl High School all the time from the elementary school to the university, so I don't have a lot of friends of men.
However, when I participated to this tennis club, I could make a lot of friends. I'm so glad to do that.

I think that it is same in MFWI.
Rather there is the person who came from the different countries in U.S.A., so I could see a lot of people who have a different thinking.
It's very interesting for me, so I want to speak more.
I will be absolutely enjoy staying here!

Thank you.

Hello! I'm Yuki. I was born in Kyoto and now I live in Ashiya. My birthday is March 23rd. Most of my friends are 20 years old, but I'm still 19 years old! I'm the youngest in our group.

I went to Mukogawa Women Junior School and High School, and I go to Mukogawa Women's University. I have been going to Mukogawa for 8 years!! I'm wondering why did I choose women's school!!lol

I was a member in drama club for 6 years. I played boy, girl and woman. It was hard before contests and school festivals. I'm proud of myself because I did not abandon it! Also, I was president of the club. This experience increased my confidence.

I like to see airplanes and to board them. When I see them in the sky and airport, I'm excited!! Most of my friends and my family don't understand my feeling, but I like planes!!

I experienced great and great experience. When I arrived in Spokane in February, I could enter the cockpit!!! I couldn't believe it! Because securities are strict after 9.11. Generally, it is not admitted common citizen to enter the cockpit. However, pilots let us enter the cockpit kindly. In addition, I could sit cockpit seat!! I sat Captain seat! I will never forget this great experience!

Self Introduction

Hi! I'm Yuri. I'm from Kyoto, but I completely forget about Kyoto because I have moved to Hyogo when I was 2 years old. I have moved 3 times, so I have a lot of friends. I have never had a drink. That's because I'm 19 years old. In Japan, a person who is more than 20 years old can have a drink and smoke, so I want to try to a drink when I am an adult. However my birthday is February. Regrettably, I can't do it for 4 months.

I have 3 people in my family, my mother, father and me. My mother is always busy because she works hard all day long. She likes her work. She has some friends in Thailand. Of course they are Thai. She can speak a little Thai, so I think she is nice. My father also works everyday. He knows many things about Japanese history because he likes it. I like Japanese history, too. I have probably been affected him. He also likes to walk, so he walks around our house every weekend.

To watch the TV during eating is my best happiness. I like both, so this is the supreme situation. In addition, I like English! I want to be a fluent English speaker.

I'm always smiling. I want to make people cheerful by my smile. I'm happy everyday!

Succeccful Language Learner.

Hi. My name is Yuka. I'm a student of English as a Second Language of Mukogawa University in Japan, and now I study English in Washington in America. I enjoy every day, because I love English and America!! English is very difficult and complicated, but I find it pleasurable to study English, because it is such a useful tool of speaking to many people in all over the world. Wednesday, my teacher gave me a great opportunity to talk successful language learners. It was fabulous to discuss good ways to learn language with them. I spoke the man whose second language is English. I can't understand his mother language, but we can talk each other because we can speak English. I had a great time with him. His English was better than mine, so I thought I should have studied English harder. I was miserable. He taught me the most important thing to learn second language is to love that language. The more you are interested in that language, the more you would like to improve your skill of that. I thought it was a good idea, so I decided to keep loving English!! I would like to go on learning English because English makes it possible to discuss with many people all over the world. I appriciate my teachers because they gave me such a nice oppotunity. Thank you a lot!!

Self Introduction

My name is Fumie. My nickname is Fu-min, so please call me that! I’m 19 years old now, and my birthday is December 4th, so I’ll be 20 years old in America! Yeah!!! I have lived in Kobe with my family for 19 years, and I love it because I think Kobe is fashionable and romantic city. I often go shopping there on weekends. There are mountains and the sea, and I can also enjoy sightseeing. On the contrary, my house is in the countryside. There are a lot of fields, so I used to play volleyball when I was junior high school student. I love my town anyway. It makes me relax:->

My hobbies are playing the piano, singing, eating, playing volleyball, taking a trip, shopping and talking. I have learned piano for 15 years, so I can play a lot of tunes. When I was a high school student, I wanted to go to music university, and I studied and practiced it a lot, but my heart was changed:-0 I don't regret it, so it’s OK:-) I belonged to volleyball club when I was junior high school student, and I play volleyball on the team. It’s really fun! I want to play volleyball with extension students! Let’s play volleyball together♡

After I entered Mukogawa University, I began to work at a bar that is style of Okinawa as a waitress. Please look at the picture! It's my favorite one:-p We had dinner at "Kingyo" which I worked at when Danielle came to Japan. I worked for a year and 4 months there, but I often made mistakes. The owner calls me up and encourages whenever I lose confidence. I’m happy because I could see nice people there. I could also see wonderful friends here in last semester. One of my favorite word is “Ichigo Ichie”. This means a once in a lifetime chance, so I want to cherish people who I meet.

Self Introduction

My name is Christopher Micek, and I have been alive for almost 46 years! Wow! When I was in high school, I thought anybody older than 40 was almost retired. My daughters are often embarrassed because, as I get older, I say jokes that aren't very funny. In English we call them bad puns but in Japanese you call them 'oyaji-gags'. Now that I am officially an 'oyaji' I can't stop saying these bad puns...they're fun, these puns. Come and have some 'pun' with me!

I was born in California, but I think of myself as a small-town boy. I lived on a farm in Oregon and then moved to Spokane. After meeting my future wife (Chika), we moved to another small town, but this time it was in Japan. I loved it there and stayed for almost nine years with my twin daughters, Erika and Serina.

Coming back to Spokane, I started working at MFWI and then my wife and I had another child. His name is Koh (named after a friend of mine) and he loves Japan and Japanese things more than anything else. He grew up in Nishinomiya, so living in Spokane now is a little strange for him.

I have enjoyed traveling and meeting people from all over the world. I don't think I'll stop doing what I love.
