American Customs

There are many countries in the world, and each country has different customs. They are very interesting. When I came to America for the first time, I was surprised at three American customs.


First, I was surprised that almost all Americans don't take off shoes in their houses. When I went on homestay, I didn't take off my shoes. It was uncomfortable because my feeling was strange, but I had a good experience.


Next, I was surprised that I can use a doggy bag. When I went to a restaurant, I wasn't able to eat everything. Then a server asked me, "Do you need a doggy bag?" At first, I didn't understand "doggy bag". Then the server told me about it. When I knew, I was impressed because it is very useful, so I think Japan should use the system.


Finally, I was surprised that I can refill glasses many times for only one payment. When I went to a fast food shop with my host family, she said "You can refill." However, I worried about paying, so I asked her, "Do I have to pay again?" and she said "No." I was very surprised and impressed. It is very good for me because I drink a lot of water and juice.


I have many cultural observations of America. They are really interesting for me, so I want to look for more cultural observations now.
